We rescue dogs and cats from high‑kill and rural shelters across New Mexico. We bring them into
foster care, provide vetting and training, and find them loving forever homes. We do not keep a public shelter facility.
Unfortunately, no. Our focus is on dogs and cats from shelters at risk of euthanasia and have limited foster availability. We’re not currently able to accept owner‑surrendered pets.
We are a foster-based rescue serving Albuquerque and surrounding areas. All adoptions are by appointment—meetings are arranged after application review.
Our process includes: Submitting an application → Foster outreach → Meet & greet + home check → 7-day trial + sign contract and pay the adoption fee.
Yes—fees vary by pet and include vet care like spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, and heartworm testing.
Unlike large shelters, we don’t receive government funding. Our adoption fee helps cover the true cost of care — including medical treatment, food, transport from rural shelters, foster supplies, and emergency care. We ensure each dog is fully vetted and supported before adoption.
We offer a 7‑day trial period. You pay the adoption fee upfront, and if the dog is returned within 7 days, you’ll receive a refund.
Please fill out our foster application form or email us at abarkingchance@gmail.com. We provide all supplies, medical care, and support—you provide the safe space and love.
